Tunisian enterprises have strong interest in adopting model of mission-based companies (CCITF)

"Adopted in 2019 in France under the PACTE bill, the Action Plan for Business Growth and Transformation, the model of mission-based companies is an innovative economic model which guarantees good governance and transparency in enterprises," Director General of the Tunisian-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (French: CCITF) Raja Touil said on Friday. "Tunisian enterprises have a strong interest in adopting a new model which is much sought by lenders and financial institutions," she further told TAP on the sidelines of a reflection day held by the chamber in Tunis. Mission-based companies declare, pursuant to the PACTE bill, their purpose through several social and environmental objectives. "This will guarantee the good governance of such companies as they will have their missions audited," Raja Touil added. CCITF President Khelil Chaibi said this reflection day fits within the chamber's prospective activities. The CCIFT intends to organise similar events on businesses of the future in 2024-2025. Soc ial and economic actors and members of academia will attend these days at the end of which a white paper on Tunisian enterprises will be developed. "This white paper will bring together all innovative economic models adopted by developed countries with a view to devising future economic policies." The chamber of commerce and industry will select at the close of these reflection days a sample of enterprises to offer them funding and support in transformation projects. These transformation projects are carried out on the basis of a collaborative approach with the Tunisian university. Chaibi said this first day is intended to debate corporate rersponsibility and the governance of Tunisian enterprises. " The ultimate purpose being to move towards a more reponsible economic model in harmony with the country's sociocultural context and its economic and political history," he added. Manuel Bufala, chargé d'affaires at the French embassy in Tunis, said it is critical that the business world can table proposals to authorities responsible for developing policies and introducing economic reforms. "France is Tunisia's leading economic partner in trade and investment and it is crucial to step up the reciprocal exchange of good practices," he further said. Several factors, the French diplomat said, make of Tunisia a privileged destination for French businesses, mainly the highly-qualified and competitive human capital, cultural proximity fostered by the francophonie and the strategic geographic location as Tunisia is at the crossroads of European, Maghreb and sub-Saharan markets. " French enterprises considerably invested in the Tunisian economic fabric and intend to continue over the next years," he added. The model of mission-based companies, Bufala said, was embraced by over 1,000 French entreprises. This number is doubling each year. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
