Tunisia calls for urgent action to condemn genocide perpetrated by occupier in Gaza

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Nabil Ammar on Wednesday in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), underscored that one of the most urgent duties of Islamic countries today, in response to the horrific crimes perpetrated by the brutal occupation in Gaza, is to pool efforts for urgent action at the level of the United Nations and the International Criminal Court to condemn these flagrant violations of international law and international humanitarian law and demand their immediate cessation, endeavour to bring relief to the Palestinians and provide them with effective international protection, and refocus world attention on the just Palestinian cause. The FM added in his address in the name of Tunisia to the extraordinary open-ended meeting of the OIC Executive Committee at the level of Foreign Ministers, that silence regarding this genocide committed by the occupying authority has become a crime in itself, and the international community is called upon now, more than ever, to shoulder its political, legal and moral responsibilities in imposing an immediate halt to the brutal and inhumane aggression against the Palestinians, and put an end to the policy of imposing a fait accompli by force. Ammar further pointed out the need to challenge the deceptive Zionist media machine and international channels that distort the facts and justify the plans for murder, displacement schemes against the proud Palestinian people, announcing Tunisia's call for joint media action to refute the slanders that seek to distort this humanitarian issue and twist the facts in a way that serves the agendas of the occupying entity and its supporters, underlining that there can be no peace in the region without a just and lasting political settlement that restores the rights of the Palestinian people. He pointed out that the horrific violations perpetrated in Gaza have reached an unprecedented degree of criminality and brutality, tantamount to systematic genocide that reached the point of killing hundreds of civilians in the bombardment of the Gaza Baptist Hospital on Tuesday, and flouts the entire system of international and humanitarian law, wondering why the occupation authority remains above accountability and punishment, in light of the political cover and support provided by states and parties aligned with the occupier in various forms. Ammar said that Tunisia, which in mid-October commemorated the 60th anniversary of the the evacuation of the colonial forces from its territory, and which adopts principled and firm positions on all just issues, does not change according to political interests, and it is one of the countries with a clear conscience with all peoples, and affirms today that injustice does not last, and that the continuation of colonial settlement policies and systematic abuse and aggression will inevitably end and that gaining independence is a right that crowns any legitimate struggle. The meeting was attended notably by Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud and Secretary-General of the organisation of Islamic Cooperation Hissein Brahim Taha.
