Tunisia has completed all the legal stages for the approvement of a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) worth euro 113.6 million and a domestic loan to raise euro 213 million and dollar 13 million. Decisions approving the form of Law No. 10 of 2023 and No. 11 of 2023 were issued on Friday, in Official Gazette No. 124 of 2023, providing for the completion of all procedures starting from approval by the Cabinet Meeting, then the Parliament and finally President of the Republic Kais Saied. Tunisia will channel the funds disbursed by the IBRD to the National Office of Sanitation to finance the sanitation services project in Tunisia through a public-private partnership. The government seeks, through the local currency loan to support the diversification of the State budget's financing sources by making the most of the currency deposit resources for non-residents available in domestic banks to alleviate the internal financial market in dinars, which is suffering from a shortage of liquidity. The government seeks that the loan will contribute to the stability of the currency reserve by preserving the savings of non-resident companies in Tunisia and transferring them abroad.
