The tree seedlings planting campaign is transparent and scientific as it is assisted by technology, according to Government Communication Service (GCS).
Some 247 million tree seedlings have been planted in five and half hours since the launching of the campaign at 6 am, it was learned.
In her press briefing in connection with the campaign to plant 500 million tree seedlings today, Government Communication Service State Minister Selamawit Kassa said the tree planting campaign is assisted with technology.
As a result, numerical data from 9,000 planting sites are transfered to the center and processed.
“Anyone interested can easily identify the species of the seedlings being planted and know what is happening at the planting sites through the technology that allows the system to be transparent and scientific,” the state minster elaborated.
According to her, millions have flocked to the planting sites since early morning to take part in the campaign which is part of the Green Legacy Initiative.
Selamawit noted that the Green Legacy Initiative launched four years ago has enabled Ethiopians to create synergy, unity and strength towards realizing a better country.
