The trade balance of fishery products recorded a surplus of TND 82.4 million at the end of March 2023, down 9.7% compared to the same period of 2022, according to data published by the National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI) Thursday.
The value of exports of fishery products increased by 1.9% at the end of March 2023, reaching 158 MD.
ONAGRI reported a slight decrease in export prices compared to 2022, standing at 19 dinars / kg against 19.4 D / kg in 2022.
The most exported species are fish, shellfish, preserved and semi-preserved.
Tunisia's exports of fishery products are distributed among 37 destinations. Italy is the main importer (36%), followed by Libya (20.6%), the United Arab Emirates (14.5%) and Spain (8%).
As regards imports, Tunisia imported 14.3 thousand tonnes of fishery products at the end of March 2002, an increase of 3.6% in terms of quantity and 17.8% in terms of value, to pound 78.6 million.
ONAGRI reported a slight increase in import prices at the end of March 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, from 4.6 D/Kg to 5.5 D/Kg. Frozen fish (frozen tuna) for industrialisation is the main imported species.
