The public prosecutor at the Tunis Court of First Instance has opened three new cases against the leader of the Free Destourian Party (PDL), Abir Moussi, spokesperson for the Tunis Court of Appeal, Habib Torkhani, told TAP on Tuesday. Moussi, who has been in custody since October 3, 2023, was accused of changing the form of government, calling on citizens to take up arms against each other and spreading disorder in the country. At the end of the investigation, the public prosecutor at the Tunis Court of Appeal asked the public prosecutor at the Tunis Court of First Instance to open three new cases against a lawyer (who was not named) arrested in another case, the same source said. He pointed out that two of the three cases were opened following two complaints filed by the president of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) against the backdrop of two videos posted by Moussi on her social media platform on January 26 and 27, 2023, in which she accused the electoral body of falsifying the elect ions. The third investigation, according to the same source, was opened following a complaint filed by the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT). In this complaint, the union structure accuses Moussi of holding a rally with a group of his supporters on May 27 in front of the UGTT headquarters, where they attempted to enter its courtyard and disrupt its work.
