Technical committee meeting to discuss arrival of Tunisian expatriates in summer 2023

The meeting of the technical committee for welcoming Tunisians abroad during the summer of 2023, held on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Social Affairs, was devoted to setting up a strategy for welcoming Tunisians returning to the country and coordination between all the structures involved. The meeting, which brought together representatives from several ministries and public authorities, focused on preparations for the summer season and the return of the Tunisian diaspora in the best possible conditions, in addition to the action plan put in place by the Office for Tunisians Abroad (OTE) in partnership with the relevant institutions and structures, to promote the services provided to Tunisians, especially as preliminary forecasts indicate that the summer of 2023 will see a massive return of Tunisians abroad. Mohamed Mansouri, CEO of OTE, stressed that preparations are well underway to ensure that Tunisians returning from abroad can do so under the best possible conditions, with the support of the various ministries and structures involved. In a statement to TAP, he said that social attachés at embassies and consular services abroad had recorded a large influx of Tunisians at passport collection and renewal services, auguring a massive return of Tunisians during the 2023 summer season. According to Mr Mansouri, every effort has been made to simplify return procedures at airports and ports, and to reduce travel costs through special offers for families, pointing out that Tunisair and the Tunisian shipping company have recorded an increase in bookings compared with the summer of 2022.
