Summit of Non-Aligned Movement:Tunisia calls for ceasefire in Gaza

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Nabil Ammar urged the Non-Aligned Movement to bring its full political weight and pile up international pressure in a bid to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, the ultimate purpose being to resume the delivery of humanitarian aid and relieve the suffering of two million displaced people. There is need to keep the just Palestinian cause as a top priority of the Movement until justice is served in Palestine by means of returning to the Palestinian people their land and establishing a sovereign independent state on all their territories with Al-Quds as capital, the FM said as he addressed the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Kampala, Uganda. Nabil Ammar reiterated "Tunisia's firm condemnation of the ongoing aggression" and said stability in the region hinges on a just, comprehensive and lasting solution which puts an end to the occupation in Palestine and occupied Arab territories. Tunisia is keen to "continue its positive and act ive involvement" in various blocs, including the Non-Aligned Movement, as part of commitment - as a founding member- to its guiding principles.
