Somali Region Donates 20 Million Birr to Fire Victims in Dire Dawa’s Ashewa Market

Addis Ababa: The Somali Regional State has contributed 20 million Birr to support the rehabilitation of victims affected by the recent fire incident at the Ashewa Market in Dire Dawa. President Mustafe Mohammed of the Somali Regional State visited the site of the recent disaster at Dire Dawa's Ashewa Market today, offering consolation to the affected individuals. He commended the Dire Dawa Administration's ongoing efforts to provide both immediate relief and long-term support to the victims. To bolster the administration's initiatives, President Mustafe announced a donation of 20 million Birr on behalf of the Somali Region and its residents. This contribution aims to ensure the success of the rehabilitation efforts. He noted, "Dire Dawa's progress in fostering joint development with neighboring regions and its aspiration to become a hub for trade and industry will receive continued support from our region." Mayor Kedir Juhar of the Dire Dawa City Administration expressed gratitude to Mustafe Mohammed and the high-level delegation from the Somali Region for their personal visit to console the fire victims. He also thanked the region for its financial support towards the rehabilitation efforts. The Mayor emphasized that in the wake of national reforms, there has been a growing spirit of cooperation among the Eastern neighboring regions. He noted an increasing collaborative effort aimed at achieving shared prosperity. This gesture of solidarity from the Somali Region exemplifies the enhanced inter-regional cooperation in Ethiopia, particularly in times of crisis.
