SNJT stage rally in solidarity with Palestinian people

A rally in solidarity with the Palestinian people, victims of the Zionist war machine, was held on Monday in Tunis on the initiative of the National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT).

The rally was attended by journalists, civil society activists and the Palestinian ambassador to Tunisia, Hael Al Fahoum.

Participants raised the Palestinian flag and chanted slogans condemning the bloody attacks by the occupation forces and supporting freedom in Palestine. They also denounced the atrocities committed by the occupation army "in front of the world".

The newly elected president of the SNJT, Zied Dabbar, said that the rally was organised in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their cause.

Dabbar also condemned the war crimes committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza. "Zionism's murderous machine targets journalists to silence them and hide the truth," he stressed.

The SNJT is in constant contact with regional and international professional media and press organisations to defend the right of journalists working in the Occupied Palestinian Territories to cover events and to guarantee their safety while on duty, he noted.

According to the Palestinian Journalists' Union, 11 journalists have been killed and more than 20 injured since the start of the occupation attacks on Gaza on October 7 last year.

Palestinian Ambassador to Tunisia Hael Al Fahoum praised Tunisian journalists' unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, calling on them to expose the atrocities and grave violations committed against Palestinian children and the forced displacement of Palestinian families.

He also condemned the Western media's campaign of misinformation. "They broadcast images of Palestinian child victims as if they were Israeli children," he pointed out.

Israel is waging a merciless war in Gaza, carrying out unprecedented raids and committing crimes against humanity in an attempt to wipe out the Palestinian cause and deprive the Palestinian people of their legitimate rights forever.
