Small Cabinet meeting continues to discuss draft organic law on organisation of associations

A small cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani at the Government Palace in the Kasbah on Friday continued to discuss the draft organic law on the organisation of associations. The meeting was attended by Justice Minister Leila Jaffel, Interior Minister Khaled Nouri, Finance Minister Sihem Boughdiri Nemsia and representatives of the Central Bank of Tunisia and the Tunisian Financial Analysis Committee (CTAF). The draft law is part of the legislative reforms aimed at regulating the activities of civil society components, according to a statement issued by the Prime Ministry. It aims to "modernise the mechanisms for the establishment of associations and regulate their activities, while balancing freedom of association and the control of their financial systems, to support their contribution to the achievement of the public interest and overall economic and social development, in accordance with the principles of the State of law and institutions," it added. After deliberation and discussion on the wording of the draft Organic Law on the Organisation of Associations, it was decided to submit it to a future Council of Ministers.
