Run-off local elections: North Bardo candidates point to lack of understanding of local council prerogatives

Run-off local election candidates in North Bardo, namely Amanallah Jebali and Rim Saad, said citizens are not fully aware of local action and the prerogatives of local councils. Both candidates agreed on the need to focus on this matter in their mafinestos and meet with youth to explain the importance of local councils in improving living conditions. Candidate Jebali, who won 171 votes in the first round, said there is near unanimity among Bardo residents about the importance of local action in the improvement of living conditions, including transport, cleanliness and environment. The candidate highlighted the need to enhance Bardo city's tourism potential, including the museum and beylic palaces. He promised to give due importance to He landscaping public parks and green spaces, highlighting the need to improve the Bardo municipal pool's services and to create a new training centre for youths. Saad, with 122 votes in the 1st round, asked the Regional Election Authority (IRIE) of Tunis 2 to step up effor ts to keep people aware of this electoral event which will be held next February 4, by displaying banners in avenues and streets. Citizens welcomed the idea of a local council which, she said, will be a single point of contact for transmitting their concerns to the relevant authorties without having to go to municipalities, delegations and governorates. In her manifesto, the candidate focused on environment cleanliness in collaboration with Bardo municipality by means of increasing the number of light points and ensuring regular household waste collection.
