Run-off local elections: Chahed Observatory reports electoral violations in various polling stations

The Chahed Observatory for Monitoring Elections and Democratic Transitions said, Sunday afternoon, that it had recorded a series of violations in a number of polling stations, describing the turnout in then run-off local elections as «low». In a statement released on Sunday, the Observatory did not provide any details on the number of voters heading to the polls, giving only «a mere qualitative assessment» of the situation. The Observatory poined out that violations took place in the Izdihar polling station in Feriana, governorate of Kasserine, where the president of the center as well as its members were not there when they started receiving voters. «Propagandas as well as clashes were also observed during the election silence, on Saturday, in the Sned electoral constituency, Gafsa governorate. This required the intervention of the police,» the same source underscored. «A number of voters were also taken on a private bus to the Tarek Ibn Zied polling station in al-Tadhamoun 5 constituency, governorate o f Ariana,» the same source added. The Chahed Observatory for Monitoring Elections and Democratic Transitions took notice of «the poorly trained electoral staff,» indicating that its observers were denied access to the Yasminat polling station, governorate of Ben Arous on basis of " invalidity of the accreditation card» issued in the first round of local elections.
