Renewable energy: New Tunisian subsidiary of French group EDF ENR inaugurtaed

The new Tunisian subsidiary of the French group EDF ENR, specializing in the implementation of photovoltaic self-consumption projects, was inaugurated Wednesday evening during a ceremony organized in Sidi Bou Saïd (northern suburbs of the capital). Through this establishment, EDF ENR, which designs, markets, installs and maintains photovoltaic solar solutions for individuals and professionals, aims to support Tunisian economic players in their decarbonization strategies. The subsidiary will offer its expertise in the field of photovoltaic energy production to its customers in Tunisia by providing support during the duration of projects through turnkey solutions, innovative products and a network of local partners. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Chairman and CEO of EDF ENR, Benjamin Declas, said that «in today's world where one crisis follows another, the climate emergency keeps reminding us of our responsibility. Successive reports from the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) constantl y remind us of the importance of renewable energy in the decarbonization of the economy.» He added «without renewable energy, there will be no credible alternatives to the use of fossil fuels, no competitive decarbonization in isolated areas, nor sufficient electrification of uses in industries and transport ". «Today, over 141 countries around the world have developed laws to promote the use of renewable energy. Investments in renewable energy are spreading globally, exceeding more than 300 billion dollars per year for 5 years.
