This historic document dates back to February 27, 1860, preceding the issuance of the first constitution of Tunisia on April 26, 1861, said a Prime Ministry statement. This gift was delivered upon the President's visit, on Monday, to the headquarters of the Prime Ministry and the Secretariat General of the Government in the Kasbah. "The Law on the Organisation of the Office of the Grand Vizier represented a decisive turning point in structuring the Tunisian state and organising its mechanisms on rational and comprehensive foundations," according to the Prime Ministry. "It enabled better management of public affairs and consolidated Tunisian sovereignty in the face of foreign ambitions and intrigues."
