President Samia wants all Tanzanian varsities get free access to Wi-Fi

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has ordered Minister for Information, Communication and Information Technology Nape Nnauye to come up with a strategic plan that will ensure that all universities in the country and other important public places get free internet services.

She gave the order when launching the 2Africa Submarine Cable and Airtel’s 5G High Speed Communication Technology at Mbezi Beach in Dar es Salaam on Thursday saying that the move will increase the efficiency of students in their studies.

“The government is determined to provide the best and most affordable services to all universities in Tanzania and in places where petty traders run their businesses.

“My call to them is that when this service comes; let them use it well in matters that are beneficial and not otherwise. Instead of going to the internet to abuse or gossip, use it for something that will make you progress,” the Head of State emphasized.

Earlier, President Samia held a virtual conversation with former President who doubles as the Chancellor of the University of Dar es Salaam, (UDSM), Dr Jakaya Kikwete applauded the government’s decision on free internet at public spaces.
