President Saïed chairs ceremony on Evacuation Day [Upd 1]

The Tunisian flag will always fly high, " said President Kaïs Saïed as he chaired Sunday in Bizerte an official ceremony to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Evacuation.

"We will never forget past generations of Tunisians who laid down their lives for their country, " he further said. Tunisia, strongly committed as it is to human rights, will never depart from its positions.

"Today, we will spare no effort to liberate the country from those who tarnished its sacrifices," the President added.

With regard to the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, Kais Saied said Tunisia is committed to forging ahead with the liberation of Palestine so that it can evacuate all those who kill the Palestinian people everyday.

Upon arrival to the Martyrs' Square, the Head of the State saluted the flag as the national anthem was performed and reviewed a detachment of the three armies paying him honours. He then laid a wreath at the foot of the martyrs' memorial and recited the Fatiha in their memory.

The ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the Assembly of People's Representatives, the Prime Minister, the Defence Minister and senior military officials, the Governor of Bizerte and former freedom fighters.
