President of the Republic Kais Saied met on Tuesday with Finance Minister Sihem Namsia at Carthage Palace. The meeting discussed the state's financial balances and the ongoing preparations for the draft 2024 budget, the 2024 finance bill and the 2023 amended finance law, according to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.
On October 12, the Cabinet meeting approved the draft amending Finance Law for 2023, which includes a revision of the state budget for the same year, as well as the draft Finance Bill for 2024, which, in addition to provisions related to the budget, includes fiscal and financial provisions related to upholding the social role of the state and the supply of the market with basic materials, support for the agriculture, fisheries and water resources sectors, support for the financial integration of SMEs, the promotion of savings and the vitalisation of investment.
The creation of alternative mechanisms to finance subsidy expenditure, as well as support for the green economy and sustainable development were discussed during the meeting.
