Prime Minister, Ahmed Hachani had a meeting, on Tuesday, at the Kasbah Palace, with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso who is making a working visit to Tunisia from February 19 to 20. During the meeting, which was attended by the Economy Minister and the Finance Minister, the two officials discussed ways to strengthen partnership in areas which are a top priority for Tunisia including renewable energy, food security, infrastructure, transport, investment, innovation and SMEs, pharmaceutical and car industries, reads a statement of the Prime Ministry. The PM praised the "fruitful" partnership between Tunisia and the EBRD in various areas, namely the support brought to public institutions in an effort to improve their governance and competitiveness. By the end of her meeting with Hachani, the European official pointed out that "the EBRD seeks to develop the private sector and consolidate the energy transition in Tunisia by promoting the renewable ener gy sector," recalling that the bank is funding the ELMED electricity interconnection project with Italy. She added «we have also worked so much with Tunisian relevant parties to develop solar and wind energy. Tunisia has enormous potential in this area and this potential is important to support the shift to a more low-carbon economy, reduce dependence on gas and be able to export green energy.
