PM Abiy In Kampala For 19th NAM Summit

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his delegation arrived in Kampala, Uganda to participate in the 19th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). The Ministerial Meeting of the NAM was held over two days from 17-18 January 2024 and was preceded by the Senior Officials Meeting of the NAM. The 19th NAM Summit under the leadership of Uganda is being held under the theme 'Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence' and brings together more than 120 developing countries on a platform of crucial historic significance. The Ministerial Meeting of the 19th Summit of NAM concluded on Thursday in Kampala with the adoption of three key documents. The documents will be submitted to the Heads of State and Government of the NAM for final consideration and adoption at the Summit that commences today. NAM was founded in 1961 with the view to advancing interests of developing countries in the context of Cold War confrontation. In its first three decades, the Movement played a crucia l role in decolonization, formation of new independent states, and democratization of international relations. Source: Ethiopian News Agency
