Nawaat Festival is back for its third edition under the banner of resistance

The Nawaat Festival is back for its 3rd edition from December 15 to 17, 2023. The theme of the 2023 edition is resistance: resistance to violence against women, marginalisation, precariousness and resistance to the Israeli occupation. For three days, the Nawaat Festival will highlight the various forms of resistance to this violence, through committed artistic performances that breathe new life into the theme. This resistance will be expressed through film, photography, dance and debate. The Nawaat festival programme also features an exhibition entitled "Vagabondage" by Chehine Dhahak. The result of several years of contemplation, Chehine Dhahak's first solo exhibition is a visual exploration of wandering. Captured in a series of chance encounters, each of his photographs is a carefully orchestrated assemblage in which visual harmony and proportion play a key role. Through this series, Chehine Dhahak invites us into a visual meditation in which resilience emanates from each image, revealing the ephemeral be auty and quiet strength that lies behind urban loneliness. Mohamed Arbi Soualhia's "Les amazighs: Mémoires perdues' is an immersive experience programmed in the Virtual Reality section. From independence until the 1970s, many communities from the Amazigh villages of southern Tunisia were forced to leave their land and settle in the plains. Over time, memories fade and with them the identity, language and traditions of a people. The aim of "Les Amazighs, Mémoires Perdues" is first and foremost to archive collective memory. Testimonials have been collected and presented in three virtual reality sections. In addition to dance and music performances, there will be a screening of Yasser Jridi's "Memories of Concrete", an experimental short film on the border between journalism and artistic creation. Based on footage shot in the central market, the film is an explosive cocktail that mixes video footage of bodies in motion with graphic creations. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
