National bond loan: Subscriptions to 4th tranche to raise TND 700 million start on November 27

Subscriptions to the fourth tranche of the 2023 National Bond Loan which amounts to TND 700 million, will start on Monday, November 27. For the third consecutive year, Tunisia is issuing national bonds as a mechanism to fund the State budget. Subscriptions to this fourth tranche will continue until December 5, with the possibility of closing the subscription before this date or extending it. Indeed, the subscription to the national bond loan is possible, depending on the choice of the subscriber in the three types of categories A, B and C. The repayment period varies between 5 and 10 years, depending on the category and the nominal value of the bond. Each bond which was set at 10 dinars (A), 100 dinars (B), and 100 dinars (C). The government seeks to mobilise, through the issuance of four tranches of the National Bond Loan 2023, an amount of TND 2.8 billion compared to TND 2.9 billion in 2022. Financial analyst Bassem Ennaifer told TAP the 2023 Finance Law provides for raising TND 2.8 billion yet the tre asury raised TND 2.584 billion for first three tranches of the 2023 National Bond. He underscored that the subscription to the fourth tranche of the national bond loan should exceed the planned goal (TND 700), due to the State's need for financing, especially, that Tunisia will have to repay a certain number of its foreign and internal debts. Ennaifer underlined that Tunisia, like several countries around the world, recorded, a high key rate, calling on the various central banks to review the main interest rate in the beginning of the second half of 2024. He added that this measure will be applied to the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) if the downward trend of the inflation rate continues. According to him, the government will use again, in 2024, the National Bond mechanism so that it becomes an annual instrument like Assimilated Treasury Bonds (BTA). 'It is planned to raise an amount of TND 2,870 million in 2024,' he pointed out. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
