MEPs underline Europe’s willingness to support Tunisia

A working session was held, on Friday, in Bardo, between members of the Assembly of People's Representatives (ARP) and two members of the European Parliament Jordi Solé and François Alfonsi. The two MEPs expressed Europe's willingness to bring further support to Tunisia so that it consolidates its democratic process and boost its national economy, reads a statement of the Parliament. They welcomed the historic relations between Tunisia and the European Union, stressing the need to strengthen them so as to serve the interests of both parties. Tunisia's strategy in the field of renewable energy, common regional challenges, namely the fight against irregular migration, were discussed during of the working session. On the other hand, members of the ARP stressed the need to develop cooperation with the European Union so as to achieve the goals included in the memorandum of understanding signed on 16 July 2023 between the two parties. The working session was attended by Assessor to the ARP Speaker in charge of External Relations, Tunisians Abroad and Migration Ezzedine Tayeb, President of the Committee of Rights and Freedoms Héla Jaballah, Chairman of the Committee of External Relations, Tunisians Abroad and Migration Aziz Ben Lakhdher, and Deputy-President of the Committee of Industry, Trade, Natural Resources, Energy and the Environment Boutheina Ghanmi.
