KASSERINE: The Regional Directorate of Public Works and Housing in Kasserine is working on the installation of solar-powered public lighting points on bends and dangerous slopes in the road network as part of the third instalment of the programme to improve road safety. The total cost of these installations is estimated at more than 400,000 dinars, Sofiene Hendiri, head of the Department of Road Operation and Maintenance (DEER) in Kasserine, told TAP. According to the same source, 80 photovoltaic lights and public lighting points will be installed in the various delegations of the region in the first phase, pending the installation of other lighting points in places that are dangerous for road users as soon as the funds are available, he said. More than 80 bends and slopes have been identified in the governorate, he noted. The regional director said the installation of the photovoltaic street lights will be completed in May next year.
