Tunisia's beach basketball team (women) won the bronze medal at the 2nd African Beach Games (JAP 2023) hosted by the resort city of Hamammet, after defeating Algeria (15-11) at a placement game on Friday.
Speaking to TAP, Tunisian women's basketball coach Yosr Cherni said: "The weather conditions were a big challenge for our team. Our girls are not used to playing in such scorching heat," adding that "we do not have basketball players who specialise in 3-on-3. We are used to playing 5-on-5 on basketball courts. So the lack of experience was a major factor in our failure to reach the final."
The coach insisted that "today's victory is a great achievement for Tunisia" and stressed that "we are happy to have overcome all these challenges".
