Stepping up women's participation in the forthcoming local elections took centre stage at a working session held Friday between President of the Independent Higher Authority for the Elections (ISIE) Farouk Bouaskar and President of the National Union of Tunisian Women (UNFT) Radhia Jribi.

The meeting discussed the importance of awareness campaigns to step up women's participation in the forthcoming local elections scheduled for December 24.

Jribi affirmed the Union's willingness to cooperate with the authority in order to contribute to the success of the forthcoming elections, urging that the conditions of eligibility for local elections be made easier for rural women.

The meeting was attended by ISIE Vice President Mohamed Nawfel Frikha and ISIE Council members Najla Abrougui, Mahmoud Al-Waer, Ayman Boughattas, and Belgacem Ayachi.
