ISIE, Romanian counterpart agree to prepare joint work programme

Aymen Boughattas, Member of the Board of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE), accompanied by the Commission's Central Director for Legal Affairs and Election Monitoring, paid a working visit to Bucharest on February 11 and 12, at the invitation of the Romanian Permanent Electoral Authority. At a working meeting with the President of the Romanian Permanent Electoral Authority, Toni Grebla, and his accompanying delegation, it was agreed to draw up a work programme between the two bodies for the exchange of visits and the organisation of joint training courses on the rehabilitation of human resources and the use of modern means of communication in the management of electoral processes. During the meeting, the Tunisian experience in the electoral field was presented to the Romanian authority. The meeting also made it possible to review the various elections organised by the Commission and to learn about similar experiences in Romania, according to a statement from the ISIE. The working visit co mes within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two authorities in Burcharest in February 2020, and the Commission's desire to use international cooperation to publicise Tunisia's experience in organising elections and referendums and to learn from comparative experiences in the electoral field.
