Addis Ababa: Ethiopia's House of Peoples Representatives (HPR) has endorsed the government's motion that depicts its priority tasks during the current fiscal year and the performances of last year. The motion, presented by President Taye Atskeselassie in a speech he made at the joint session of HPR and House of Federation on October 7, 2024, was approved with a majority vote and two against. According to Ethiopian News Agency, the endorsement took place in the presence of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who responded to queries raised from MPs on the overall activities of the government in terms of economy, politics, and diplomacy among other key areas of national interest. Addressing the two houses, President Taye Atske Silassie highlighted the government's activities over the past fiscal year and priorities moving forward. He stated that Ethiopia's economy is at a new turning point, highlighting the country's transition to a multi-sector economy. This shift is gradually increasing the number of citizens who be nefit from economic growth. Ethiopia's economy recorded a growth rate of 8.1 percent over the last fiscal year, with plans to register 8.4 percent economic growth in the current fiscal year. Prime Minister Abiy told the MPs today that Ethiopia's revival will kick off as of the current fiscal year. In this regard, the Prime Minister announced that all the necessary preparations and mechanisms have been put in place to realize this by registering a GDP growth of 8.4 percent during the current fiscal year.
