FM expresses commitment to treating migrants according to national laws and international obligations

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Nabil Ammar, Monday, underlined t Tunisian authorities are working with specialised international organisations, to repatriate a number of Gambian irregular migrants to their home country on a voluntary basis. Speaking with his Gambian counterpart Mamadou Tangara in Oran, Algeria, the FM expressed Tunisia's commitment to treating migrants in accordance with the national laws and international obligations, reads a press release of the Foreign Ministry. The meeting focused on boosting economic and consular cooperation as well as irregular migration. The two ministers expressed will to consolidate security and peace on the African continent. Minister Nabil Ammar took part in the 10th the high-level Seminar on strengthening peace and security in Africa, held in Oran - Algeria. Minister Tangara chaired the Seminar in his capacity as the President of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, for December 2023. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
