Tunis: Five Tunisian universities feature in the 2024 Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), with the Tunis El Manar University ranking 948, Sfax University (1141), Monastir University (1362), Carthage University (1382) and Sousse University (1942nd). Harvard University (USA) took the top spot, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), Stanford University (USA), University of Cambridge (UK) and the University of Oxford (UK), while the Yunnan Agricultural University (China) ranked at the bottom. The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) is a leading consulting organisation providing policy advice, strategic insights, and consulting services to governments and universities to improve educational and research outcomes. The ranking started out as a project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with the aim of rating the top 100 world universities. It was quickly reported worldwide by universities and the media and many requests were received to expand it. In 2019, the ranking expanded to lis t the top 2000 out of nearly twenty thousand universities worldwide, making it the largest academic ranking of global universities.
