First crossing of “Almouhit” ferry January 28

The first crossing of the new "Almouhit" (Ocean) ferry will take place on January 28 at 12.30pm from the Sfax marina, the new Kerkennah transport company (SONATRAK) announced on Saturday. SONATRAK scheduled this first voyage with the new ferry "Almouhit" after completing the necessary operational procedures, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Transport on Saturday. The ferry "Almouhit", purchased by SONOTRAK from Greece, docked at the commercial port of Sfax-Sidi Youssef on December 8. The 100-metre-long and 18-metre-wide ferry has four engines and can carry up to 900 passengers and 210 vehicles. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Transport Rabii El MAjid had said that the acquisition of this ferry comes within the implementation of the company's strategic objectives included in the performance contract signed with the Ministry of Transport in October 2022, mainly to strengthen the fleet, develop the business and improve infrastructure and services.
