Addis Ababa: Ethiopians will mark "Union's Day" on Monday with a number of activities that are essential to achieving inclusive nation-building initiatives, the Ministry of Peace announced today. Since the reform six years ago, the thirteenth month of Pagume, which commemorates Ethiopia's transitional period, has been observed nationally under a variety of themes. Accordingly, September 9, 2024 (Pagume 4) will be commemorated as 'Union's Day' nationwide to highlight the importance of inclusive nation-building efforts. In a press conference jointly organized by the Ministry of Peace, Government Communication Service, and Culture and Sports Ministry, it was indicated that the day will be observed in various events that are instrumental to realizing inclusive nation-building initiatives. State Minister of Peace, Keyredin Tezera, said Ethiopia is blessed with a wealth of beliefs, languages, cultures, ethnicities, landscapes, and climates that are demonstrated by harmony. This union has been a hidden seam tha t Ethiopians are able to jointly overcome their challenges that have arisen throughout the country's history of the nation-building process. Because of their strong unity, Ethiopians were able to repel foreign invaders who sought to attack their nation on a number of occasions, citing the golden victory of Adwa. Hence, Pagume 4 (September 9, 2024) will be commemorated as 'Union Day' nationwide to remember the sacrifices paid for Ethiopia's territorial integrity and enable Ethiopians to utilize these opportunities as an instrument to realizing inclusive and sustainable nation-building efforts.
