Addis Ababa: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed expressed Ethiopia's commitment to strengthening its relationship with Middle Eastern countries. Prime Minister Abiy made this remark in his address to inquiries raised from members of the Ethiopian parliament today. According to Ethiopian News Agency, Abiy emphasized that Ethiopia's previous approach to the Middle East was misguided, overlooking a prosperous neighboring region that offers opportunities for Ethiopian youth. He stressed the importance of establishing strong ties with these countries, highlighting shared cultural, linguistic, and religious aspects. Abiy noted the significant contributions Middle Eastern nations have made to Ethiopia and underscored the necessity of engaging with multinational organizations in the region to build robust connections. He pointed out that the global community is actively collaborating with Middle Eastern countries, and Ethiopia should not remain passive while others benefit. Abiy highlighted the financial resources, knowledg e, and experience these countries possess, as well as their proximity and importance as a market and employment source for Ethiopian youth. Abiy revealed that Ethiopia has initiated discussions with some Arab organizations and expressed interest in potentially joining the Arab League. He emphasized the importance of making Ethiopia's voice heard in multinational organizations, drawing attention to the impact of participating where the country previously had little presence.
