Downward trend in producer prices for broiler chicken and table eggs in June 2024 (ONAGRI)

Tunis: The producer price of broiler chicken experienced a downward trend in June 2024, going from a maximum of 5,846 millimes/kg on June 1 to a minimum of 4197 mill/kg on the 30th of the same month, a drop of 28.2%, according to data published on Tuesday by ONAGRI. The producer price of broiler chicken fell by 4.7% (4723.4 mill/kg against 4956.4 mill/kg), compared to the same month of the previous year, and by 20. 6% compared to 2024, (4723.4 mill/kg against 5945.6 mill/kg). By region, the average producer price in the South (4849.8 mill/kg) was 4.1% higher than in the North and 0.3% higher than in the Center. The production cost of broiler chicken decreased by 7.9% year-on-year (4270 mill/kg against 4637 mill/kg) and saw a slight decrease of 0.5% compared to that of May 2024. On the other hand, the producer price of eggs for consumption also experienced a downward trend (-7.9%). a maximum of 236.6 mill/unit was recorded on June 1, 2024, compared to a minimum of 217.9 mill/unit on the 27th of the same mo nth. The average price decreased by 8.3% compared to that of the same month of 2023 (226.8 mill/unit against 247.3 mill/unit) and by 13.1% compared to May 2024 (260.8 mill/unit). By region, the average producer price of the Center (233.3 mill/unit) was 3.6% higher than that of the South and 1.9% higher than that of the North.
