Déguiche meets with FIFA and CAF delegations

Tunis: Representatives of the FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) expressed satisfaction at the positive relations between the Tunisian Ministry of Youth and Sport and the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) on the one hand, and the Ministry, FIFA and CAF on the other, the ministry said on Monday. At a meeting held on Monday in Tunis between Youth and Sports Minister Kamel Déguiche, FIFA Director Member Associations Africa Gelson Fernandez, CAF Representative Jean Jacques Diene, and FIFA Senior Member Associations' Governance Ahmed Harraz, it was agreed that solutions could not be projected, but rather should be consultative and respectful of national sovereignty. The meeting turned on the management of the FTF's affairs and the solutions proposed to ensure that the current sport season and the period leading up to the elections are completed under the best possible conditions, reads a ministry press release. The talk alse helped discuss several issues, including mainly those that have cont ributed to the deterioration of the FTF's situation following the cancellation of elections twice and the rejection of candidate lists, making it necessary to review the electoral law and the statutes of the FTF. "This meeting, the third between the ministry and a FIFA delegation, was marked by a positive atmosphere and constructive dialogue, with the FIFA and CAF representatives voicing willingness to cooperate and support Tunisia in coordination with all stakeholders in a spirit of neutrality, transparency and respect for national sovereignty in the interest of football and Tunisian sports in general," the press release reads. The delegation arrived in Tunisia on Monday morning as part of an official visit to assess the FTF's current situation and prepare a final report, at the end of which FIFA will take a final decision and implement a roadmap to be determined at a later date, following meetings with all stakeholders, represented by the supervisory authority, the FTF and club officials.
