CPG exports 35,000 tonnes of commercial phosphate to Peru

The Gafsa Phosphate Company (CPG) on Wednesday started loading about 35,000 tonnes of commercial phosphate on a Peruvian ship docked at the Sfax port. The company specified that this operation is part of its 2023 export programme. Since early 2023, Tunisia has managed to export 70,000 tonnes of commercial phosphate to international markets, against 90,000 tonnes of phosphate exported in 2022. Head of the Communication Department in the CPG Ali Houchati told TAP in May 2023, that the company considers exporting 40,000 tonnes of commercial phosphate to the Indonesian market, underlying that export to Indonesia has been suspended since 2010. CPG expects to produce 5.6 million tonnes of commercial phosphate by 2023, with a view to improving the production rate of the last decade, which did not exceed 3.5 million tonnes. The CPG seeks to achieve a monthly production volume equivalent to 400,000 tonnes at the level of the various plants across the delegations of Metlaoui, M'dhilla, Om laarayes and Redeyef.
