Clashes in Sfax between residents and sub-Saharan migrants: Delegation of senior security officials sent to region

(TAP) - Director General of National Security and Director General, Commander of the National Guard went to Sfax on Tuesday accompanied by senior security officials to closely monitor developments in the region following the murder of a resident during clashes between residents and sub-Saharan migrants. Earlier in the day, the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Sfax 1 Court of First Instance ordered the arrest of three sub-Saharan migrants suspected of involvement in the murder, which occurred on Monday night. A fourth suspect is wanted in connection with the same case. The tragedy occurred near the Mahdia km10 road in Sakiet Eddaier after renewed clashes between residents of the Sakiet Eddaier neighbourhood and sub-Saharan migrants. An investigation was opened for premeditated homicide, in accordance with articles 201 and 202 of the Penal Code. On Monday, the public prosecutor's office ordered 34 sub-Saharan migrants to be taken into custody for illegal entry into Tunisia and illegal residence, following the acts of violence perpetrated on Sunday evening in the city of Sfax between residents of working-class neighbourhoods and sub-Saharan migrants.
