Chokri Belaid’s assassination case: hearing postponed to March 8

The 5th Criminal Chamber at the Tunis Court of First Instance, Tuesday, postponed the hearing session in Chokri Belaid's assassination case to March 8, at the request of lawyer Salah Barkati who told the court that he will represent the accused Mohamed Amine Guesmi. He requested a delay to consult his file. The President of the chamber accepted the lawyer's request to preserve the rights of the defence, giving them the necessary time to consult the file and hear the accused. The hearing was attended by the 23 defendants including 6 who remained at liberty, except Mohamed Aouadi who was not there for health reasons. The accused in Chokri Belaid's assassination case Ezzedine Abdellaoui and Ahmed Melki alias "Somali" were taken from prison but refused to appear before the chamber and preferred to remain in the court's detention cell.
