Tunis: The Carthage International Festival marks its 58th edition this year, celebrating six decades of its existence. This milestone event, scheduled from July 18 to August 17, 2024, honours its storied history despite the two editions cancelled in 1982 due to the Sabra and Shatila massacre and in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival's programme features 18 nights showcasing the diverse sounds and cultures of 11 countries, including Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Senegal, France, Spain, China, and the Caribbean. The lineup promises a rich tapestry of musical genres and styles such as Tunisian music, oriental tunes, reggae, flamenco, African rhythms, and world music. The details of the 58th edition were unveiled by the festival's organising committee, led by Kamel Ferjani, during a press conference held on Monday evening at the Roman Villas of Carthage. The festival's schedule boasts seven Tunisian evenings, six Arab nights, and five international showcases. It will feature six performing arts events, including ice circus, theatre, choreography, opera, and musical comedy, along with 11 exclusive international performances created specifically for the Carthage International Festival. In alignment with the festival's commitment to social responsibility, nearly 5,000 spectators from underprivileged neighbourhoods in the Greater Tunis district will be invited to attend.
