Call for reviewing measures on international bank transfers for international tenders

The need to review measures on international bank transfers as part of participation in international tenders is one of the main recommendations to support the building and public works sector, tabled at the 3rd sector-based meeting on building and public works, held at the Maison de l'Exportateur.

The participants in this meeting called to encourage Tunisian real estate development companies to invest abroad, to pool their efforts and ensure coordination between all those involved in the organisation of development operations abroad, the Centre for the Promotion of Exports (CEPEX) said on Thursday.

Addressing the meeting, CEPEX CEO Mourad Ben Hassine pointed out that the sector's exports had grown by 27.5% in 2022, to TND 1.28 billion.

"Cement accounts for 34.2% of the total exports of construction materials (57% of BTP exports), followed by ceramics and tiles (9.6%), gypsum (9.5%) and sanitary equipment (3.6%)."

He added that the building and public works sector includes 353 companies, 23 of which are full exporters, providing 24,000 jobs.

Ben Hassine reviewed CEPEX's participation in the events organised in 2023, in addition to the scheduled events, citing as an example "The Big 5 Construct Kenya," due in November in the capital Nairobi.
