Bardo Museum to reopen after work is completed (Culture Minister)

The Bardo Museum will reopen once maintenance and restoration work has been completed, according to Culture Minister Hayet Guettat Guermazi, who denied reports that it would be closed permanently.

Speaking during a visit to the Hammamet fort, she stressed that the ministry is also working to reopen all archaeological sites, including the Carthage site and the Haouaria caves, as "they are all an integral part of the country's memory."

On another hand, the minister said demolition orders must be enforced and the law must be applied to those responsible for attacks on historical monuments.

She told TAP that some urban planning violations had been recorded at the Hammamet fort, which required urgent action.

In this context, the minister stressed the importance of reviewing certain procedures, in particular with regard to contracts for the sale of houses in the Hammamet medina and the obligation of owners to preserve its architectural character.
