Addis Ababa: The Azerbaijan and Ethiopia diplomatic relation established in 1992 has experienced dynamic growth, characterized by numerous high-level visits and consultations, Ambassador Ruslan Nasibov said. In an exclusive interview with ENA, the ambassador has highlighted the vast untapped opportunities that strengthen the bilateral ties. The two countries have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at enhancing the efficiency and accountability of public service sectors, laying the groundwork for further collaboration. During his visit to Azerbaijan, Ethiopia's Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh pointed out Azerbaijan's impressive advancements in digital services, particularly in skill development and modernized civil service access. Ambassador Nasibov noted that the memorandum signed during the deputy premier's visit aims at strengthening cooperation across various sectors. "This is an important area of our cooperation, focusing on institutional collaboration that is long-lasting. It affects not just one sector but has the potential to positively impact all aspects of life and society. We place great significance on these fields of cooperation, and we are currently working on implementing this MoU." Ambassador Nasibov noted key developments over the past year, including a high-level delegations from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which held political consultations with Azerbaijani counterparts in Baku. The consultation was principally aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the areas of agribusiness, mining, and education, in tandem with enhancing multilateral collaboration. Furthermore, exchanges between parliamentarians and ministers have strengthened relations between the two nations. Looking forward, the ambassador expressed optimism about the growth potentials in sectors such as energy, agriculture, IT, and trade. 'I must emphasize that we have significant economic potential in our bilateral relations that remains untapped. There are opportunities in the energy sec tor, particularly in renewable sources, as well as strong prospects for investment and trade. Both sides are keenly interested in these areas. Additionally, we have substantial potential for collaboration in agriculture. I believe we will see concrete results in the coming months.' Additionally, the ambassador commended Ethiopia's commitment to climate action, highlighting its achievements in increasing forest coverage and promoting sustainable practices. Speaking about the UN Climate Change Conference Azerbaijan is preparing to host in November, Ambassador Nasibov said this presents a valuable opportunity for both Ethiopia and Azerbaijan to collaborate in multilateral efforts, particularly in mitigating the impacts of climate change. With the ongoing discussions and a strong foundation of cooperation, he added that Azerbaijan and Ethiopia are well-positioned to build a more prosperous partnership in the years to come.
