Agriculture: Olive oil exports increase 30% late in April 2023

Tunisia's olive oil exports have increased by 30.6% to 1,795.6 million dinars (MD) from the start of the season to the end of April 2023 compared to the same period of the 2021-2022 season, according to a report on "Figures of the month" published by the National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI).

The quantities exported reached 115.4 thousand tonnes since the start of the campaign at the end of April 2023, down 14% in volume.

The average price recorded during the first six months of the campaign increased by 51.9% or 15.55 DT/kg against 10.24 DT/kg recorded during the same period of the previous campaign.

Bulk olive oil represents 90.4% of exports, against only 9.6% for packaged oil, the same source added.

Spain is the leading importer of Tunisian olive oil with a share of 45.4% of the total volume exported during the first seven months of the 2022-2023 campaign, followed by Italy (25.3%) and the United States of America (12.0%).
