Addis Ababa: Conference on shaping an environmentally sustainable and inclusive digital future in Africa will be held in the 4th of September in Addis Ababa. UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) organized the conference in hybrid format both online and at the UN Conference Centre, Addis Ababa. The event will bring together different stakeholders to discuss the key findings for Africa from UNCTAD's Digital Economy Report 2024. The report will highlight the urgent need for sustainable strategies throughout the life cycle of digitalization. The event will also stress the need for systematic shifts in the ICT sector to protect our planet and ensure the well-being of all. The rapid pace and expanding scope of digitalization make it increasingly important to understand the relationship between digitalization and environmental sustainability, according to ECA. Participants will explore ways to achieve economic prosperity while conserving our planet and promoting int ergenerational equity. They will also generate actionable policy recommendations and foster strategic collaborations to address the dual challenges of digitalization and environmental sustainability in Africa.
