71% of of swimming water in Tunisian beaches are of good or very good quality

71% of swimming water in Tunisian beaches are of good or very good quality, according to the results of National Beach Quality Monitoring Network carried out over the last period, while 29 beaches in 5 Tunisian regions are unfit for swimming, according to a Health Ministry press release issued on Friday.

The beaches unfit for swimming are 4 in the governorate of Tunis, 16 in Ben Arous, 5 in Bizerte, 1 in Sousse and 3 in Gabes.

Drafted by the Health Ministry's National Beach Quality Monitoring Network, the list aims to prevent health risks related to swimming in the sea.

The network includes 539 permanent monitoring stations set up across the entire coastal strip (from Tabarka to Ben Guerdane).
