Tunis: The second meeting of the committee preparing the Tunisian Republic's report on the implementation of the Beijing +30 Declaration and Platform for Action was held on Friday under the chairmanship of the Minister of the Family, Women, Children and the Elderly, Amel Belhaj Moussa. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Presidency, several ministries and national organisations. The Beijing Declaration covers a number of key issues, including the fight against poverty, women, education, health, the environment, employment, the fight against violence, peacekeeping, women's and children's rights and access to decision-making positions. During the meeting, the participants defined five priorities for action over the next five years, namely the fight against poverty, agricultural productivity, food security, the fight against violence to women and girls, women's entrepreneurship and the consolidation of women's participation in ensuring a sustainable environment. This is Tunisia's 6th report on the implementation of the Beijing + 30 Declaration and Plan of Action since the adoption of this programme. This report has been produced every five years since the Beijing Conference in 1995, using a participatory approach involving the various partners and stakeholders in the field of gender equality and women's empowerment at national and regional levels.
